I hope you managed to show him the error of his ways, although if he's been living in Canada for that long and has yet to absorb that fact, there's probably no hope for him. As an American living in Canada, I'm kind of embarrassed by the fact that he obviously can't be bothered to even watch the news, if he has yet to pick up that politics do not function here in exactly the same way. Even if I hadn't known that before I moved here, I would have picked it up the first time an election rolled around, if nothing else.
