No, she started carrying it with her.

Yes, she did. She learned how to pull it out of anything available--the air, the plants around her, herself and other people. That was the same episode where she learned to bloodbend.

She didn't do much of that, though, since it kind of kills the plants and bloodbending's pretty inhumane. You see the results of that training best in the episode where she goes on her personal adventure with Zuko, I think.
