Re: queer fiction by non-queer writers
I think the movie is actually a good example of what I'm talking about too- correct me if I'm wrong, but Harvey Milk was one of the first out politicians of his time, yes?
It seems like gay people don't get that much attention unless they have a extra-ordinary experience to tell, whereas a straight person in a queer context is a extra-ordinary thing by default, and the guy the anonymous linked to took advantage of that and got a book deal. Some time ago Adam Sandler did a similar thing by making that movie where two heterosexual guys get married. Both of those guys might be allies(or not), but it's hard to see their intentions as sincere when you take all of that into consideration.
