Haha, exactly. John has more issues than US weekly.

I think my favorite thing about John's issues is that nearly all of them came about because of JFlans acting choices. Like, a lot were written in plot but a lot of the issues fandom picked up on were just weirdo things in the way he chose to act a scene.

I agree. Every single episode of SGA felt like another chance to pick apart John Sheppard's psyche. I know the whole cast had their issues, but imo it always felt like John had more than everyone else combined. (At least the main cast, anyway.) Considering that includes Rodney, that's a lot of issues.

Joe always did a great job of making John feel like a fleshed out character and that effort makes rewatching episodes a lot more fun. (There's so many things about him you can overlook!)

"some kind of sexually fucked up" doesn't really make sense though. It seems like it should read either "some kind of sexual fuck up" or "kind of sexually fucked up". But you can gather the meaning either way so whatever.

I have no idea how you'd say "some kind of sexually fucked up" in the same way as you'd say "gay" or "straight". It doesn't work grammatically.

I read it as equivalent to, "sexually fucked up in some kind of way."

It works if you take out some of the modifiers. Would the sentence work if the OP had just said, "...that doesn't have Shepperd as fucked up"? (Admittedly I'd've gone with "portray him as," but that's me.) If so, then you can just add back in the "sexually" and "some kind of."

I'd have put sexually after the fucked up, not before.

instead of the 'gay or straight' comparison, i read 'some kind of sexually fucked up' in the same way you might say 'some kind of crazy' - so, colloquial short hand for 'some kind of kind/type/flavour of _______.' (in this case sexually fucked up). so, reads fine to me.

I would always have put it "fucked up sexually" never "sexually fucked up"

I assumed that OP meant that they had trouble "buying into" the fanworks of others if there was a different characterization of John.

Honestly curious why you seem to be irritated- do you think someone's headcanon should be developed entirely independent of other fan's perspectives??
