Notes:

Sorry, early today!

Also: I'm not going to officially warn for tongue-in-cheek "triggers" just to provide anyone with a fandom-specific in-joke when there are none in the secret.

i'm just, with these comments. do any or most of you read femslash? we have stories with strap-on cock. we have stories with magical cock. we have a shitload of stories with no cock of any variety involved. one single person can enjoy all of those types of fiction without feeling as if her (or insert applicable pronoun) is being sucked into a heteronormative vaccuum where only dick matters. i feel like i'm in some kind of magical reality myself, having to defend the validity of cock in lesbian porn. sure, not everyone likes it, but a lot of people do. in fact, i'm pretty sure a lot of people consider it but one sex act in an arsenal of sex acts which can be deployed. i've read secrets where people complain that slash readers have a narrow band when it comes to acceptable sex... you know, where cock in ass is the only thing that seems to count and then for real gay people (and others) chime in to explain how they have sex in a variety of ways, but these comments are like some kind of strange reverse of that? or maybe it isn't. i've confused myself.

i've written a lot of stories where women fuck other women. surprisingly, they do so in a vast variety of ways. as for magical peen, it's going to show up in fandoms where magic can make it happen because magic is part of the canon in greater frequency. i've seen a fair number of ouat magical peen stories, but certainly not enough for me to think there's been some kind of run on them.

there were definitely j/7 stories in st: voyager that played on the magical toy idea by giving 7 all kinds of vibrating powers because of her physiology.

maybe people just like to break out the magical peen when it doesn't feel completely out of nowhere, so far as these things go. i could take or leave magical peen myself, but seriously, people. lesbians fuck each other in all kinds of ways. sometimes they like to do it with peen. sometimes they do not. if no peen is your preference, it's not as if you'll find yourself with nothing to read.

*as if she. imagine all other typos magically fixed as well with my magical stylus.

I think the point is, if you're reading femslash specifically so no penis is involved, it's a bit jarring when suddenly there is penis. And if your preference is in the minority, it's always a bit disappointing.

I don't think it's so much that people don't want cocks in their femslash (which, IMO, is a valid complaint - I don't want vaginas in my m/m slash, either, and that includes turning an asshole into one), it's more that cock in femslash is a disheartening trend, especially when the cock comes out of nowhere and has no real reason for being there except to write PIV sex instead of something else.

Yes, lesbian couples have sex in all sorts of ways, as do het and gay male couples, and that may sometimes include a strap-on or a dildo (but probably not magically sprouting penises), but that doesn't mean that sex should be defined as PIV or penetrative sex, and with the prevalence of random cock in femslash, it's apparent that people either, a) define sex as purely penetrative, or b) have no damn clue how to write lesbian porn without a phallus. Or both. Probably both.

i've been reading femslash for going on 15 years now. i would say that this is definitely not apparent. apparent is way, way overstating it. if you think that's the case, you need to read more broadly. even within the ouat fandom, the vast majority of stories feature no peen, magic or otherwise. check out the ao3 tag for emma/regina. there's actually a lot of excellent work in that fandom. does some of it involve a strap-on or perhaps even a magical peen? i've seen a story or two. of hundreds.

OP.

I ran into eight out of eleven when I wrote this secret (I was looking for M-rated Emma/Regina on livejournal). I hadn't seen much of that kink before and it felt really overwhelming because none of them were tagged. I'm aware it's a small sample and I've kept reading.

It surprised me because all of them were unlabelled, by different authors, and all from the point of view of the woman without a penis.

There's many requests for magical penis (in different forms, including Red/Belle and the Red's wolf being male) on the OuaT femslash kink meme too.

Bloody hell you're annoying. Your reading comprehension is seriously - and I mean SERIOUSLY - off. People said "many writers think lesbian sex requires peen because they don't know better" and you somehow read that as "there shouldn't be any peen in lesbian sex, ever, and if you write that, or read that, there's something wrong with you." Nobody said that. No, really. Nobody.

If you read the comments above and do not see in what I wrote a valid response to the many, many snark-filled remarks about how this trend must be because of dudes or people who don't know how to make the sex without peen combined with the equally snark-filled 'all those dumb fuckers, believing it's gotta have peen for it to be real sex', then with you, i just can't either.

Seriously. I'm pretty sure I could have responded with a simple "Fuck off" and it would have been as meaningful as your ad hominem muckslinging.
