I... Am I really the only one here who actually likes tag essays? :/

I can see why it's annoying to some, yeah, but tumblr doesn't even wrap tags, so all you get is a single line of easy-to-ignore tiny grey text. And if it's copy-pasted into the captions, then it's not so hard to read anymore, right?

(Then again, I feel like the only one who actually wholeheartedly likes tumblr culture, complete with feels and tyPING LIKe THiS and everything, on f!s...)

FWIW you aren't alone lol. i love tumblr culture, i write stupid tag essays, i shun capital letters and embrace run on sentences. it's great. if people don't like it they can either find like-minded folk or....idk, not use tumblr!!

as far as i am concerned if someone doesn't like any of the things i do they can simply unfollow me :p i'm not going to change my habits for whiners.

Why do people have to have opinions? Why can't they just ignore stuff and shut up about what I like? Because it's so easy to ignore on a screen inches away from their face?

Nope, F!S just has a huge hateboner for tumblr because tumblr's basically taken all the fandom activity that used to be on LJ and DW.

I don't mind tag essays and sometimes I think they can actually be pretty interesting. I prefer those to people adding things to a non-text post (with a few exceptions), since tags are easier to skip over. I actually find Tumblr culture pretty interesting, if a bit frustrating at times. (And most of what I find frustrating is related more to attitudes and people being jerks to others and less about how they choose to use the site, since that's a personal preference thing, and anyone who says someone else is "doing it wrong" is usually a bit of an asshole.)

I'd also much rather follow someone who writes tag essays than doesn't tag at all. I've unfollowed people for the latter but never the former.

No, I'm with you, have made a couple tag essays myself, and was super excited when one of them started floating around with my tags on it (and will add tags I like into a post, too). idg the hate-on for tag essays honestly. I mean, yeah sometimes I'll have a lot of silly tags (hell, one of my common ones? Is a keyboard smash. Yes I'm serious.), but that doesn't mean I don't like serious stuff and sometimes it spawns serious conversation too (a friend of mine talking about "heroes are born not made" wrt FFVII with the OP of a photoset was a memorable one).

And I REALLY don't get the whole "no serious conversation" on tumblr thing ever because I can think of several conversations I've had (hashing out headcanons for violin playing Isa, working out a FF/Phantom crossover, debate over Xion's gender, etc) and it was pretty good stuff. Yeah, I'll admit, talking is sometimes difficult, but there are ways to do so on tumblr.
