How is this a secret? The secret is that you played the game five times?
kyuusei: This is Iggy being adorable. Not that it's difficult. (Default)

..and just like with secret #5, I was going to post basically the same comment as you. GET OUT OF MY HEAD.

;)

hey. hey guess what. it's a fandom related secret, you'd need to have played the game/know the character to get why this might be a secret.

besides they already said in a previous GC thread that they'd make skyrim secrets to fill space. people seemed to be on board with that.

Just because something is fandom related doesn't make it a secret, though. I guess I don't really mind since there aren't that many secrets lately, I'm just confused.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I am ashamed of playing the game once, so I guess playing it five times is worth a secret.

Aw, I wanted to play it, but now it seems like too late to do so :/

ashamed because you thought it was bad...?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's a secret because deciding to kill that particular character is a really unpopular opinion in the fandom, and saying that you did is an easy way to make other fans instantly mad at you.

Oh, okay. Thanks for explaining that for me. I was genuinely confused, I didn't even recognize this as Skyrim until someone identified it!

I don't get why people would want to kill Paarthurnax, except maybe to join the Blades.

idek, I always kept him alive. Seemed like he was honest in trying to turn the dragons away from Alduin's dark path and legitimately change. Plus, he seemed like a decent fellow to me.

But w/e, different strokes for different folks and all that.

Haven't gotten up to there yet, but what do you get out of killing him?

He talked to slow & it annoyed the fuck out of me, so I might kill him.

The Blades will at one point discover Paarthurnax's identity, and insist that you must kill him. If you decide not to kill him, the Blades won't help you anymore, but on the other hand, the Greybeards won't be pissed and will still give you locations to word walls. Also, you get a nice cut scene after you're done with the main quest. There's not a whole lot off hassle if you want to keep him alive, just don't start throwing firebolts at him, I guess.

Season Unending is what triggers the quest for me, but if you've played the Civil War quest before finishing the main quest, yeah, I have no idea when the quest for killing Paarthurnax appears.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Random dragon loot, like normal, a dragon soul, etc. etc.... (you know, obvious stuff)

Then you get to do misc. dragon hunting quest with your Blades posse (you can get 3 followers to join the Blades). The word wall thing with the graybeards is pretty much useless due to "Letter from a friend" (which is heavily implied to be Delphine) which you get a new one every time you shout in a city. (of course, just using the wiki or the wikia is a lot easier, but if you'd rather just do in game stuff, that's how that would work, asides from randomly scouring the game map)

WHO WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THEIR SKYRIM CHARACTER AND WHY THEY KILLED/DIDN'T KILL PAARTHUNAX??

let's get the in-game RPs up in this bitch

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I let him live on my DO EVERYTHING file because being able to get word locations from the Greybeards was more useful than having access to the Blades, but on my main/RP file, I killed him. I can't really explain why, but I just felt like he was hiding things from me and manipulating me into doing his bidding. He does say so himself that just because dragons can't lie doesn't mean they're telling you the whole truth.

I'm still early in my first playthrough, so I haven't hit the killing that particular dragoin point, but my character doesn't take kindly to people stealing shit out from under her, so there will be no killing him when I do reach that point. Fuck the Blades.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't kill him on my game-breaky stealth archer (OP as fuuuuuck) because he seemed to legitimately be helping me, as were the greybeards. I repeatedly tried to convince the blades that he didn't need to die and generally stayed on their good side too. (Fuck yo couch, Thalmor)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-16 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't kill Paarthurnax because I sympathized with him a lot. He realized his nature as a dragon and genuinely wanted to change. The Blades on the other hand, I couldn't take seriously. Two random ass people want me to revive an ancient organization dedicated to slaying dragons just because? Count me out.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Noooo! You can't kill Paarthurnax! He's awesome! I want him to be my Daddy.

Fucking blades wanting him dead just cos he's a Dragon. Bigots.
darth_eldritch: (Skyrim Paarthunax)

[personal profile] darth_eldritch 2013-01-15 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Played once, I didn't kill him.

I didn't see any particular reason to kill him. My character didn't care for the Blades anyways.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't kill him. What he says when you tell him the Blades want him dead really got to me.

Hell, I don't even like killing the other dragons. I grew up with Spyro and Dragonheart, so sue me.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
What's a "ballah"?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Was it difficult to even kill anything in this game? I watched the "final boss" fight and the person pretty much just hurled unimpressive lighting zaps at the dragon, but the dragon hardly fought back in the first place. Fus Roh Blah.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-16 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Why the fuck would you kill Paarthurnax? :( Hes like the only nice dragon in the game.
