I think it's a stuffed turkey and that it's a metaphor to how the OP feels about community now: when their friend's pointed out all this stuff (haha, stuff) in the show they can't see the show as a whole but see a big mess inside.

ETA: Also you might wanna think about re-hugging your box set of seasons 1-3 because Community s4 might be salvageable but it certainly won't be the same.

If you break off the friendship, it's not over a fandom though. It'd be because he doesn't have the common decency to respect your limits. Which, quite frankly, is a pretty good goddamn reason to drop a friendship.

The OP says they have told them to quit several times. Personally I've found that the kinda person who cannot respect limits for something as simple as a TV show tends not to respect them very well in other situations either.

I don't understand people who take COMEDY shows like Community so fucking seriously (like your friend apparently does). Just like I don't understand people who get really invested in ships on comedy shows.

You know, normally I wouldn't get it, but while the show itself is pretty silly seeming, there is a certain feeling that anything the show is doing it's gonna do whole haul, which makes it kind of addictive. It's a show that's often better on rewatch because it's designed to be that way, so to me it makes sense that people would obsess over it because it's kind of designed specifically to be something that's obsessed over.

I like comedy ships because they are very often sweet and cute :D

Well, comedy can still have a lot of depth to it, and by my understanding Community is like that, so if somebody wants to take it seriously, I don't really see a problem as long as they don't make it into an unhealthy obsessive fixation.
