Why don't you just stop watching Community with your friend? Sometimes real life people are good friends but aren't fun being in fandom with you, or so I hear anyway.
Honestly though, I'm not sure how he's 'killing your joy' unless you're one of those people who just doesn't like talking about stuff?
ETA: Also you might wanna think about re-hugging your box set of seasons 1-3 because Community s4 might be salvageable but it certainly won't be the same.
