Dude. I'm all for trauma and angst and whatnot, just.... Not like that. Not in endless, gross detail.

Well, and the worst part of it for me is that it was one of the first stories I'd ever read in fandom and I LOVED IT because I did not know any better. *hangs head*

I really enjoyed the first, i dunno...ten or so chapters? 12. And then...omg. It just kept getting longer, and longer, and longer, and getting *weirder*.

And so frigging depressing, everything all *bad* and *sad* and....whatever.

Just...meh.

Yeah. The whole weird amnesia thing was interesting and so was Xander having left Sunnydale and making it on his own.

But the whole, "We're the gods of the universe" business comes out of left field, and I have a really hard time thinking of Riley as the sadist the story makes him out to be. I mean, the rapery can only go on for so long before even that is just over the top. LOL

And the time-travel-kilt-family thing was so...wha? I mean - honestly, at that point, i was skimming for content because i just could *not* anymore.

Now i'm sorta-kinda paranoid about getting a bitter and snarky email about how i'm *betraying* said author by talking about the story behind their back.

*I only got three in the course of that story. And all three times, i wasn't even saying anything bad.*

Oh, wow. Really? Three times?

I don't know the author; I don't think we ever interacted in fandom at all back then.

I certainly don't conflate my estimation of the story with the author herself; I'm sure she's a lovely person. But the story is not for me.

It was all very...strange. I was posting 'Changes' to her ...not the site, but...mailing list, i think? Or whatever it was. And just had some odd interactions with her.

I'm not - i dunno. I don't *care*? But it was all so weird, and at the time she was this huge BNF with a ton of followers and apparently some were lurking about and 'reported back' to her or whatever....

Not like i was hiding anything, so...whatever. That was the first and last time i ever had that sort of 'thing' happen in fandom.

I've never had anything like that happen in fandom for which I am very grateful.
