I prefer ffn because its easier to find fic centering on specific characters. So many ao3ers seem to think that making a 3-sentence appearance warrants a character tag when no. No it does not.

This. Tagflooding makes AO3 completely indecipherable for me.

Oh man, so much this. At this point, if I see a longfic for the fandom's OTP and the character I was actually looking for in the tags, I just ctrl + F the character's name to see if it's worth skimming the fic for them.

this is a good point

ao3's tag system works very well in some aspects, but finding stories based on character or pairing relevance is not one of them
