Shows/movies/books that you'd love to watch/read BUT...

[personal profile] inkmage 2013-01-18 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
So, F!S, the Homestuck secret today reminded me that I don't read Homestuck. However, it's not because I don't like the story itself (though I agree with OP that the T47|< 71|<3 TH15 thing is really annoying); the story could be fascinating for all that I managed to get through of it. I just can't get into it via the medium that's used, the MS Paint thing.

I did the same thing with Adventure Time: I really like the story, and I'd love to watch it, but I can't stand the way that the story is presented and related to the audience (though as far as I can tell I'm not the target audience to begin with, so there's that).

Therefore, F!S, tell me - are there any books, movies, TV shows, comic books, anything, that you'd absolutely love to read, watch, get into, squee over, but there's just one (possibly silly) thing stopping you from enjoying it?

This is true of some games for me. I can't play RPGs anymore without feeling like I'm wasting my life grinding pixels so I miss out on a lot of stories my friends seem to love.

This is why LPs are nice.

I have a really hard time with TV, would you believe? I can sometimes persuade my brain to sit through a movie, but the way my attention works just does not lend itself to even contemplating sitting through several years-worth of a TV canon. I'm sure there's a lot of things I'd really enjoy otherwise; The Wire is the one that most comes to mind.

re. Homestuck - as it's a mock-adventure-game the 'target audience' was originally tech-savvy people aged about 30-ish who remember adventure games from their childhoods. I sometimes find the mixedness of its medium stalls me - like, I've got behind again because I got to one of the game segments and I keep not wanting to play a lengthy flash game but I also don't want to skip ahead :/

Webcomics, all webcomics. My computer's pretty slow and I read very fast so it's alot of effort for not alot of payoff.
