I don't mind people who post their stuff to ff.net, but one thing that I do side-eye is people who post to LJ or DW fandom comms saying "Come read this fic I wrote! It's on ff.net!" Like, they have an LJ/DW for posting to the comm, but the fanfic is only posted to ff.net. That just kind of makes me think that they're lazy, and so they probably didn't put much effort into writing the fic in the first place.

Wanting to keep all your fics and comments contained in one spot means lazy writing? Okay then.

I wouldn't necessarily say lazy; on the other hand, the anti-ff.net bias is pretty widely known, particularly if you're fandom-savvy enough to be on an LJ comm. If you'd prefer everything all in one spot, that's your prerogative, but posting to the comm with a clear header and links to the fic on various sites is the most generous way to go, and more people will read if they can choose their preferred site.

Except for OP, who won't read you at all if you even *crosspost* to ff.net.

I appreciate that they're posting update notices - I can easily put them on Alert on FFN if I like the fic but I'll probably first see them on the LJ comms.

I feel the same way. I don't mind if they do a fake cut to their own journal where they've posted the fic, but if it's just a link to their ff.net/AO3 then I feel like they're just fishing for more views/kudos.

I prefer it for multichapter fics, especially if long. I can use flagfic to kindle download, read and enjoy all at once, then review.
