{{OP}}

Exactly. I can't stand the Tifa-Aeris debate, either. I think both sides are stupid and need to realize it's only a video game and you shouldn't vehemently hate a fictional person like that. It's a little obsessive.

Fandom needs more woman love.

There are still a few fans drifting around that you'll run into now and again. We're trying to re-vamp the community here, and...there are maybe three or four authors who are posting stuff on ff.net as of late (myself being one of them). We'd love to see you back at the community, though!!

I know that this was addressed above by others, but I just wanted to note that it wasn't my intent to sound condescending, and I'm sorry you took it that way. I'm a yaoi-fan myself. I don't ship it anymore, but GW is what first got me into yaoi. In the process, I was influenced by other extreme yaoi fans to hate the GW females, especially Relena, for no other reason than because she was female and 'messing up' the yaoi pairings.

I'm just expressing my gratitude to this Relena player for correcting my prejudices with her awesome characterization.

3. That's the thing about small fandoms, it's awesome that the bad stuff found in big fandoms. But like, it's so lonely sometimes D:

I say I like Akane because Kasumi's such a minor character. And Ranma-chan isn't really a character, at all.

But they're my favorites - even if Akane is severely kick ass.

Ditto!

Why oh why would you want to be a BNF? I've been one and I've had friends who were one. Yeah it can be flattering when people say "hey I know you!" but there's a lot of trouble that goes along with it. My friends have had all kinds of creeps IMing them (fortunately, I refused to talk to anyone I didn't know after my first one who I blocked within a few minutes), you have an easier chance to be plagiarized and you have to be careful what you say or you'll be viewed as a wanky nut and end up on Fandom_Wank.

However, if you really want to be a BNF, fanfics aren't the only way. I find being active and speaking your mind is probably the quicker to gain BNF status than fanfics. Be active in the comm of your fandom and be knowledgeable on the series so you can answer any question that is asked. Don't just know the series, study it. If you want quicker results pick a smaller fandom.

There are other things you can do too, get some Photoshop tutorials and learn how to make icons. If you're in a manga fandom, learn how to scanlate and be the first one each week to release the scanlated scans. Again if you're in a manga fandom have an account at one of the upload sites (mediafire for example) and always make sure it's up to date with the releases so when someone asks for a volume/chapter you can quickly post the link without having to take time to upload it. Be creative in getting your name out there and come up with other ideas of things you can do. Again a smaller fandom will get you quicker results.

4. No, you're a pedo. Not as bad as a pedo who lusts after actual little girls, but still pretty goddamn bad.

I totally *sporfled* in my coffee. And doesn't it look like Zac is pointing right at it?

[identity profile] aeris-888.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, considering its structure (as well as all the pros and cons that go with it), its almost “slice of life” feel versus plot-moving episodes, and especially given Yoko Kanno’s music accompanying it (albeit not that noticeable in DtB’s case), comparing it with Cowboy Bebop shouldn’t really be surprising. Add to that the addition of Amber and Evening Primsrose reminded me particularly of Vicious and Julia who similarly also made an appearance nearing the end of the show to present some sort of overarching plot.

Now, if only the direction (which is uninspired at the most), animation, and characterization were something to be in awe of, I wouldn’t have minded the similarities at all.

I love it, too.

And you think you have it bad? Try being surrounded by musical theatre / broadway elitists all the time. Because I'm in the musical theatre community, I can't admit it. Ever. I'm terrified to ever say I like it around any of them; they would seriously kick my ass. Seriously.

(Kind-of like shipping H/Hr.)

And the stupidest thing is.. none of them have ever seen it. God forbid they should ever give it a chance or see the good in it. What's wrong with just admitting you like cheesy stuff? When did that become so wrong? When did it start making you stupid, just to like a silly movie? Anyways, I love it. I loved the second one, too.

We'll just have to stick together. There aught to be a HSM anonymous or something.

Ashley and Ryan are my 2 faves. :D

15. ... Why would this pairing need to be more popular anyway? Isn't it plenty popular already? O_o

2. Going by the comments, there are plenty of Rem fans out there. No wonder Rem gets no love if none of her fans are prepared to speak up. I like Rem; she's not my favourite, but if there were fic about her I'd probably read it. But I just don't understand the secrets that say, "I love this fandom/character, but I don't say anything because no one else does." If you feel that way, chances are someone else will, so just... write what you want. Sometimes, somebody has to get the ball rolling.

To the OP of the secret, maybe fandom as a whole is overlooking Rem because all of her fans stopped posting and left fandom!

21. Another JSRF secret! I have to ask; concerning the characters' personalities, is it all fanon? Or is there somewhere with more detailed profiles, or what? Cause you can't tell much from the game, but there seems to be quite a consensus among fans.

that's what I'm trying to figure out too, with all these anime=poor self image secrets.

Re: 11

(Anonymous) 2007-08-30 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
If you want quicker results pick a smaller fandom.

being a big fish in a little pond doesn't carry the same weight as being a big fish in a big pond. having 100 fans who adore you and hang on your every word and having name recognition among those 100 fans is not the same as having 1000 fan name recognition.

all that aside, your suggestions are good and valid for getting a smaller fandom out there and getting more love for it. you are right. spearheading a small fandom into the public view will get your name to the top of the list for the small fandom and give you the satisfaction of spreading your fandom for the masses.

I have a secret to confess. I suppose I could be all cool and cagey and make this an anonymous secret but I'll just say it here.

The icon you are using now is what got me into watching and reading TRC.

Just thought you should know.

[identity profile] toxictattoo.livejournal.com 2007-08-30 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Total agreement.

1. DESU DESU DESU DEEEEEEEESU ~ *is annoying*

2. Word. Rem is awesome and so is Misa. *hugs them*

5. AND THIS ONE IS EVEN MORE AWESOME! :D Relena is my favorite character and it SUCKS to be bitchslapped by yaoi fanbrats just for liking her. :(

There are one-line profiles on places like Wiki, and in the game there are very minor descriptions of the characters, but other than that you just kind of have to draw from what they say/do in-game, which still isn't very much. So, yeah. Most of it is fanon.
