I agree with you - cutting away to random snarky old people would benefit every show. But I don't think that we need to be specific to Downton Abbey. I move that we name this the Statler and Waldorf Theory of Good Television Writing. Thank you, and goodnight.

I was thinking of Statler and Waldorf when I read this secret.

It would improve lots of shows.

I have a sort of similar want. After seeing parts of Mame I wish more musicals featured songs just of Bea Arthur and Angela Lansbury being snarky to each other.

I like the way you think. Also, your secret style and appearance is A+

If that happened, Supernatural would be infinitely better. That's the first show that comes to mind for me.

my favorite thing is hearing them talk about each other. i can just hear maggie saying this, tone and all.

I agree with this concept.

It would be just like these two but only better.

I love this secret so much.

I didn't like Shirley Maclaine in Downton, I found those eps a bit cringy, but liked that series afterward. I just felt like they didn't give her anything interesting to say.

Still I do like your idea, it has potential to improve lots of shows, especially procedurals like CSI would be much more interesting, you wouldn't have that boring thing of knowing what is going to come next if Maggie and Shirley scenes got inserted randomly.
