Yep. If you read past this point and get spoiled, it's your fault. Fair warning!

I don't know how I feel about it. Discord becoming good was a little eh for me. It's starting to feel like the elements of harmony aren't that important anymore. They whip them out so often, I don't see the point. The only villain they have left is the Queen/changelings. They final episode title hasn't bee released, but since it's only one episode I'm going to assume it's not as big as the other ending(s) so far.

their target demographic is children under the age of like eight, it makes sense that they want to show that everyone is redeemable and can turn their life around

I found it a bit rushed, it was obvious that Discord would end up being good but it happened too quickly for my licking.
Still, Discord is hilarious and I liked the episode overall.

Discord wasn't horribly malicious and murderous to begin with. Now I only payed scatting attention to after the Apple Family Farm was flooded the second time, but he seems to have realized a little that fun that hurts others isn't so fun.

this episode worries me because I predict a lot of disturbing discord/fluttershy fanart in the future...

The stream where I watched had a chat I couldn't disable and I kept reading that :/

I, uh, kind of loved it. Finally, a Fluttershy episode that wasn't just omg guys look how shy Fluttershy is, something happens, hey look now she's not as shy, though the change rarely stayed after the episode ended. In this episode, she was daunted by the task set to her but was confident she could do it - and she fucking did it.

Discord was never about pulling major destruction, his game was more mess things up and be chaotic, not necessarily destructive. I thought the switch to good was fast, but considering he spent the last thousand years in a block of stone, I think the realization of "my god I am entirely alone" hit hard.

Other than that - goddamn I can ramble about ponies - I liked the dialogue and characterization all around. Discord's antics, Fluttershy's willingness to call him friend but know when/where to be assertive, and the other ponies' reactions fit well.

They don't whip out the Elements that often at all. They were present in the first season opener, second season opener, second season closer, and now. That's four times over the course of three seasons, and they don't pull them out unless there is a major threat or decent reason.

There's still Sombra. I didn't care for him in the season three opener, mostly because I felt he wasn't expanded upon nearly enough and basically leaving his story on a cliffhanger.

YES FLUTTERSHY WAS PERFECT I'M SO GLAD

I'm sorry, I just had to comment to agree that I'm so glad that it wasn't another instance of Fluttershy having to "learn to be assertive". She has scolded a dragon, stared down a cockatrice, has no problem being manipulative in her own way, and she was the only one not automatically affected by Discord's magic back when he was introduced.

I'm really glad her not-shyness traits got brought back out for this one. I feel like they forget that she isn't just the shy animal whisperer sometimes.

I thought it was a bit rushed and could have been two episodes...oh who am I kidding, i wish it could have been two (or more) episodes because MLP!verse Q is flawless and I love him and so is Fluttershy <3

No really, I do think it was a bit rushed, but it was pretty obvious from the start that Discord was going to reform, and it's not like he can't still be himself and use his powers for good (most of the time). Hell, I would argue he's still Chaotic Neutral like he's always been, he just now views being helpful to others occasionally as also helpful to himself. He didn't turn "good" for the sake of being good; he's "good" for selfish reasons.

But then, I really do think of him a MLP!verse Q, and even Q learned that lesson so.

Fluttershy <> Discord is awesome indeed, but, hey, who knows. We might get a scene or in the last chapters and/or special (there is one coming, no?), and if by some miracle MLP is renewed for another season, it might have some more cameos. You are right that it probably won't get much of a focus, though. :(

(Although, what with the rotating writers, this might be a good thing. We've seen how sometimes they make some characters a little... off.)
