We're looking at central Europe right now. My friend really wants to go to Germany and then I want to go to at least one or two other countries besides that.

Any suggestions?

Frankfurt, of course!
No, Frankfurt is not that exciting. For Germany, I recommend Hamburg and Cologne. Probably Berlin. Munich, too.

And then I can also recommend Rome and Valencia.
I'm going to Barcelona myself in March :D (so I'm recommending that, too, because I'm 100% sure it'll be awesome)

we're currently debating whether to do a river cruise through the Danube or to do a bus tour with either Topdeck or Contiki. Because neither of us speaks anything but English we wanted to do a tour with less planning involved.

every person under, say, 40, in Germany, speaks English. especially in the bigger cities, and I don't think you'd want to go to a rural village in the fuck of nowhere in Bavaria?
so personally, I wouldn't worry about language problems...

It was also more of a matter of wanting to see more than one city and having to deal with traveling between the cities. I kind of want to just book a nice tour and let them direct me. I'm more adventurous in the US than in Europe.

What do you want to see the most? Monuments, museums, countryside? Anything you hate or like?

We definitely want to see cities. If you have any non-art museums that are good for a pair of 20 year olds, that'd be the best suggestions.
