I have this fandom IRL that's widely hated by other fandoms OL. So it'll have to an anonymous secret...

In my country marriage should become legal for any couple of consenting adults regardless of gender and/or sex in a matter of months. Also, the church I'm part of will undergo a revamping this year. And. When gay marriage becomes a reality, and I want to believe it will, if my church accepts it, but I can holy hope and it's a big if... then I'll consider becoming a minister.

(Alternatively, if things stay frozen, I might consider joining the UCC even thought it's really not big in my country.)

I'm confused. What does this have to do with fandoms?

I think it was a metaphor? Like "church is a thing I do irl that lots of people here don't like"?

Ah. Hrmm.
They're right. I'm out of patience with religion.

I consider religion like one more fandom. My fandom friends ~love~ discussing gay rights, including gay marriage. Therefore I wish I could disccuss this aspect with them... but I know I can't without getting dogpiled. Thus, I have to sneak here.

I think it might depend on your take on faith and how that pertains to such things as gay rights. If you're going to rail about 'god', 'sin', and etc.... Yeah, nobody wants to hear it.

But if your faith/church is inclusive and, as you say, possibly going to be including same-sex marriages well - people like to hear that.

Speaking for myself, i am just tired as hell of Xians running around screaming about how 'gay marriage' is ruining the country, how 'rape is gods plan' and etc.

Although I've never really thought about going into ministry myself, I can relate to this POV. It's one thing I really like about parts of the Society of Friends - I used to attend a Friends meeting, did so for many years in fact, and I kind of miss it.

I was really excited when I read that the higher-ups in the Episcopal church approved an official wedding script (whatever you call that) for same-sex marriages. I know a lot of people within that church disagree about it and it's totally optional for individual churches, but it's a step in the right direction imo.
