Each mission is about twenty minutes long. You basically start it and get moving and as you go along it tells you that you've 'collected' certain items.

Each mission goes like this:

Introduction/Warm Up
Song from Your Playlist
Several Minutes of Plot
Song from Your Playlist
Several Minutes of Plot
Song from Your Playlist
Several Minutes of Plot
Mission finished.
Radio mode.

It is an actual plot with characters - it sounds like a radio drama. Each mission is an episode(and there's an entire series arc) and the stories and characters develop (and OMG the feels). The items you 'collect' are then used in the app to build the township.

Oh! And I forgot to add that if you enable GPS you can set it so that you are randomly 'chased' by zombies. It's horrible! Terrifying! You can hear them! If you don't move quickly enough you get caught and lose everything you've collected.

But that is optional!

That sounds neat. Only if you have to actually cross a certain distance, it doesn't work on a trainer or anything, right?

You do not have to run/walk/jog/sidle a certain length. The app will measure how far you've gone, but there isn't a quota-- you just go until the mission is finished, you can pause the mission, and if you're still not at the end point, you can keep going and listen to fun banter.
