Except that just saying "couple" could mean they're a straight couple, which they aren't. And that's part of what's nice about it - the fact that there is a gay couple in major roles who are portrayed in a positive fashion instead of being a joke or a running gag.

Maybe OP DOES like them together because they're gay. Maybe OP is gay themselves. As a bisexual person myself, seeing non-heterosexual canon couples in media makes me happy, and when I see them, you're damn right I'm going to point them out. Because I like seeing people like me treated as normal in the media.

Yes, this. Exactly.

This is entirely valid, and I cede your point. I hadn't considered that. Maybe I'm spending too much time on tumblr. :(

all of this. I don't have much of a problem colloquially calling couples a "gay couple," because that's really more about defining the nature of the relationship (that is, they're a couple of the same sex) without actually making assumptions about the sexualities of those involved. And as shallow as it may be, I also tend to like characters/couples more when they're not heterosexual for the same reason - it's awesome to see people like me being normalized in media.

I do have a problem with "husbandos." Are English words just not good enough for people? WTF.

I don't think that's shallow at all, I think it's perfectly natural to be happy when you see people who are like you in media.
