oh the leaving the door unlocked thing would really REALLY bug me. That's just flat out dangerous, they are literally compromising your safety.

My roomie did that once with the back door(by mistake I think) but I mentioned it to her and I haven't noticed it since. The front door auto-locks all the time and I don't mind having doors unlocked while people are home but if they went out and nobody was home yeah that would really upset me

The thing that really annoyed me about the door thing is that we lived on the first floor of a student apartment complex that had a pretty heavy crime rate. And the big kicker was... oh my god, okay, so one night, the university emergency system sent all of us alert texts that a guy had walked into an apartment in the building RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO US with a gun. Not broke in. Not knocked on the door and someone answered without checking. THEY FUCKING WALKED IN WITH A GUN BECAUSE THE DOOR WASN'T LOCKED.

So I knocked on my roommates' door, and was like "this just happened. make sure you lock the door." And she was all "okay, okay." And the NEXT FUCKING MORNING the door was unlocked again.

And I couldn't "blame" her blame her, since there were four of us in the apartment but I knew it was her since we never had the problem when she was out of town. I found out what she'd do was invite a bunch of friends over, and then the friends would leave really late at night, but she wouldn't escort them to the door to lock it behind them. D:

By far, my worst roommate ever. I got out as fast as my lease would allow because I really didn't feel safe anymore.

Oh gosh I don't blame you one bit. That's ridiculously negligent, complete flippant disregard for your privacy and safety. I hope she shaped up at some point...

I mean, I don't get it. She knew what had happened, didn't she fear for her OWN safety??

She hand-waved it off by saying the gunsman knew the folk and that it probably had something to do with drugs. AKA you only have to worry about home safety if you actively know you might be personally targeted or something. :\
