A question for fandom

(Anonymous) 2013-01-20 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
I told someone today that interspecies hateship mpreg is "downright vanilla". By your standards, was I right?

Pretty much, yeah, it's weird but it's a kind of standard weird, you know? Like, it's a given that in scifi fandoms like Star Trek, there are people who ship m/m humans/nonhumans or nonhumans/other nonhumans and hatesex is a thing anyway and people like mpreg so interspecies hateship mpreg happen.

But it's not vanilla when it's humans/animals or nonhuman sentient beings/animals. So something like that Glee anal worm breeding fic people mentioned last time is not vanilla at all.

interspecies hateship is pretty vanilla. Not sure about mpreg as it's a squick of mine, so I'd consider it a bit intermediate.

Vanilla? Not exactly, because you'd have to warn for the mpreg, but yeah, I wouldn't flinch. I'd call it "niche," though.

I'm happy to say I'm not quite jaded enough yet to agree. I think I'm on my way there, though.

For me it depends on what the species were. If it's like Human/Human Appearing Alien/Demon/Angel/Vampire/Werewolf/Ghost/Whatever, then yeah, I'd probably consider it pretty vanilla. If it's a regular animal, then...not so much.

No. Mpreg is not vanilla. Interspecies can be vanilla or not, I think it depends on the canon.

I wouldn't call it "vanilla-vanilla" but it's definitely on the tamer half of the scale as far as fandom goes
