I kinda agree. I can totally enjoy stories with all-male casts, especially when the stories were written decades ago, but I really, really, really wish more stories with ensemble casts had women characters just 'cause. Not because they need to be women, not because there's any deeper meaning in them being women, but just because.

(Also, to be honest, I prefer all-male casts to casts that include women, but whose roles are to be women.)

I agree with that last part. This is why Looper was so completely awful.

Eh, I rather liked Looper. Although I do agree with you on it's horrible female characters, of which really there were only like... one. Did his Chinese wife from the future even have a single line of dialogue?

No, I don't think she did. She just kinda wandered around and mothered Bruce Willis. Looper's real problem was that it decided women in the future can only do two things - mothering and sex work.
