How is this so hard to understand?

You can read and enjoy stories about magic or ghosts without thinking those things exist in real life, which they indeed do not. People can enjoy reading about true love without believing true love exists IRL. (Those people need their hearts healed ASAP btw, but that's a side note.) etc etc
