(Anonymous) 2013-01-23 01:08 am (UTC)(link)Similarly, I don't get why people watch terrible movies, ones that don't interest them at all, because their favorite actor is in them. I have my crushes, but if the plot sounds snoozy, it doesn't matter who's attached to it - favorite actors, writers, directors - I won't watch, not unless someone whose judgment I trust says I will love it. Even then, I'd still be skeptical. I'm in my mid-forties; I have a pretty good instincts about these things at this point.
That said, the rational part of my brain usually kicks in when I start to judging. We're all different. Even when we're watching the same things, reading the same things, our enjoyment comes from very different aspects and angles. I don't have to understand other people's reasoning; I just need to let them have their fun and hopefully they'll let me have mine, too.
