I don't remember the exact quote and frankly I'm not googling it because I don't want to be infuriated anew at that bullshit, but there was supposed to be an attempted rape, yes. I'm not sure if they decided to cut it entirely or maybe alter it or what.

Obviously rape is a touchy subject and shouldn't be included or mentioned lightly, and while I think such a thing can be pulled off if it's explored in a sensitive way, what the developers said made it sound like it wasn't. However as I haven't played the game, IDK how it's represented in the actual game. I'll probably read up on it after the game comes out, and see what people who've played it have to say.
