While they think there are some serious issues with their culture they will still defend it to the bitter end, because there are some truly beautiful things about Korean culture. It is an interesting dynamic: enough things that drive them nuts that they can't wait to be able to afford to leave, but at the same time, they have enough pride in being Korean that I'm not convinced they really want to, sometimes.
Personally, no culture is that perfect bastion of equality, diversity and tolerance. No culture does everything right, simply because every culture has one thing in common: people. People make mistakes, out of ignorance or fear or something else, and thus there will always be flaws. The point isn't to point out the flaws and ridicule another culture for doing it wrong, it is to learn to accept that the culture is still growing, just like your own is, and decide for yourself if you can take the good with the bad.
