15. I like Bleach, but I have to agree with you SO HARD on the big-boobed whore. OH. MY. GOD. I want to KICK HER ASS. She's actually what made me lose interest in it, in the long run, because she's such a whiner.

21. Zomg, has the new season started? WTF, I missed it? AAH! I need to find it on the internet! Where can I find it, does anyone know? *spazz spazz*

...Oh, and about your secret (right, sorry >.>;) I don't really ship anyone in that fandom, so I don't care either way. I don't think less of you or anything! XD

(Anonymous) 2007-08-31 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
no, it hasn't started. There's just been a trailer release (available for download at avatarspirit). New season starts on September 21st (not that I'm counting down or anything ^.^)

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good! :D Now I'm excited! [/dork]

[identity profile] halevy.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Orihime is a whore? How?

[identity profile] maladaptive.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Any woman you don't like is a whore. Your dislike of her causes her to go out and trade sexual favors for money.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha. Exactly! XD;

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, not the dictionary defenition of the word. I just don't like her. I was too preoccupied at the time to think of a single word synonomus with 'annoying, overly-emotional dingbat.'

A whiner, though, she is indeed.

But that's just my opinion. To be perfectly honest, I rarely like female characters in anime.

[identity profile] halevy.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Whore is the term for a woman who is paid for sexual favors. Even a girl who sucks every guy's cock would be called a whore. Orihime doesn't run around with her breasts overly exposed and having wild sex with every male in the series.

A whiner? I really don't get why. So you're saying that even though her parents were apparently assholes, her brother died then came back and almost killed her, feels inferior to all her friends who she wants to protect, gets taken to Hueco Mundo, gets beaten up by an Arrancar and then after what looks like she's going home with her friends, gets attacked-- AGAIN-- by an Espada. I don't recall her whining at all. Sure, she's been depressed and really on the side lately but look at the circumstances.

There ain't anything wrong with disliking a character (I'm not particularly interested in Hitsugaya or Matsumoto anymore) but calling a character a "whore" on the basis of "I just plain don't like female characters" makes you sound as if you know nothing about the character.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, you get pretty over-defensive easily, don't you? It's just a term. I didn't really use it referring to her having sex all the time. I just said it to display my utter dislike for the character.

I'm not going to have a pointless argument here about a character I don't even give a flying pig about and explain to you WHY I don't like her. I'll tell you something, I do know about her character, but I don't care to. I think the series would be better if she wasn't part of the group.

I don't care if YOU like her. You can like her all you want. You're entitled to your opinion. I mean, I like Hitsugaya, but I'm not gonna go ranting about how he's such a strong, great character just because you don't care for him. You can dispise him for all I care. It's none of my business.

[identity profile] halevy.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I already said there isn't anything wrong with disliking a character. I don't care if YOU don't like her. (I didn't like her in the beginning anyway.) When you start using wrong terms, without any explanation, for them, somebody is going to say something. When you called her a whore, I found it weird because I immediately thought "she isn't sexually active nor does she wear revealing clothes".

Then you called her a "whiner", which also made me confused because I never recalled her "whining" throughout the series. Unless you consider her worrying for the her own friends "whiny".

To sum up what I wanted to say: you said things that didn't even apply to her true character. I'm not saying, "But but! Why would you hate Orihime? She's so cute, silly and sweet!"

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I never knew anyone still took the term "whore" literally anymore. I always just use it for people I don't like, or joking around with friends around my family.

And I guess I didn't mean 'whiner' so much as her character as a whole is too emo for my taste.

[identity profile] halevy.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of people do. In fact, the majority of females do because it's considered sexist to use it incorrectly. So is it alright for me to go and call a girl a whore because I don't like her? No, it's not.

Emo = genre of music started in the 1980s.

There you go again, saying something that is not true to the character. If you're going to hate on a character, at least talk of an aspect that is true.

Orihime was your stereotypical, "genki" type of female character in the beginning. She had a shitty life but she didn't wallow in self pity. Only after she sees how powerful everyone else around her has gotten after saving Rukia, it's only natural for her, who doesn't even have the will to kill someone, to feel inferior to them. However, this only begins after about twenty volumes of the manga. Then guess what? She gets taken to Hueco Mundo, where Ulquiorra is trying to break her psychologically, she (sort of? O_o) witnesses everybody dying one by one (besides Renji and Ishida) and then she gets beaten up by an Arrancar for no reason.

She's not being "emo". It's called depression. Losing the will to do anything because at this moment, she feels everything is her fault. And until Noitra and Tesla showed up, Orihime was pretty much back to her usual self in recent chapters.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, well, that's great and all that you feel so strongly, but it's not like I walk up to real people and call them whores. I just use that term in fandom. Or my friends, family and I use it jokingly amongst each other.

I don't really care what her reason is. I'm kinda sorry I don't like her. In all honesty, I wish I did, because she's one that actually identifies with me on a very important aspect of my life, but I just don't like her. I don't care if you think the way I refer to her doesn't mirror her personality. It's the way I percieve it, and I don't see my views on her changing.

15. Are you watching the same Bleach? Orihime is one of the purest characters in the series. Seriously.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-08-31 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't care how pure she is, she annoys the fire out of me. Okay, maybe 'whore' wasn't the best term. I'm used to using it on characters I don't like, because usually they are whores. I don't really know WHY I hate her (except for the fact that I usually dislike anime women) but I can't stand her.

[identity profile] hashire.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that you let a fictional character get to you that much, that it makes you lose interest in something, is just . . . stupid.

Yeah, and every character you dislike sleeps with people for money. Way to be overuse a term that's incredibly degrading to women.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Good lord, everyone's getting so worked up about the term whore. Get a fucking grip. I honestly didn't think ANYONE took that term literally anymore. It's insane that three or four people are getting so upset about my using it.

And it's not that I don't follow it anymore, it's just that she's one of the reasons I'm not obsessed with it anymore. And having one character throw off a whole series is common. That's what happened with Scooby Doo when Scrappy came along. Or how when Eric left That 70's Show, the show's ratings went down.

[identity profile] hashire.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
That's because it's a degrading term. Would you like to be called a whore? I think not.

I just think it's stupid that you let that get in the way of your liking for something.

Funny, how you said the Scooby Doo thing and my Gmail has pulled up all sorts of links involving it.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I get called it often. My friends and I have weird senses of humor.

It wouldn't have if she hadn't become such a prominant character. I mean, now there are these long pieces where it's focusing mostly on her and it's boring and frustrates me. I still read it (though I haven't had time in quite a while) because I love Ishida enough to put up with her. I just don't like it the way I did in the beginning.

What has that got to do with anything?

[identity profile] hashire.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't make it right. People who try to take terms like that and make them their own only make it used more when it should just disappear from the language.

Whatever, you can dislike her for all I care in the end, but I still take offense to the whore term.

I thought it was funny. Your weird sense of humor obviously doesn't reach me.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I don't censor myself for anyone over twelve. :) After all, I'm one of those evil conservatives. Har har.

I just don't see what's funny about a link to Scooby Doo showing up in your Gmail, that's all. One showed up in mine, too.

[identity profile] hashire.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh noes, making fun of my age! Whatever shall I do?

I'm unsurprised that you're conservative. Hmm.

Either way, I'm sick of this and I'm going to go back to reading D.Gray-Man. I'm so close to catching up, and it's definitely more interesting than this.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-01 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed, but I wasn't making fun of your age. I was just assuming you're older than twelve.

Just thought you should know that.
