Hey, good for you, OP. Do what makes writing enjoyable for you. I'm sure there are a lot of people who prefer to write things without showing them to anyone.

Since you were getting no enjoyment out of posting fic (and even worse, since it distressed you to the point of physical illness), it's completely understandable that you stopped. Smart, even. No point in making your life miserable for something that's supposed to bring enjoyment to others. (And while I'm sure there are people who might still miss your work, there are plenty of fanfic writers out there. You have to think of yourself first.)

Aw, OP. I support your decision to do what works for you, and I'm glad you're having fun writing again.

But I sort of hope you're not the wonderful writer who I just found out last night had pulled all her fics off ff.net and left a note saying she was no longer in the fandom and had no intention of reposting them, like, ever. If you are, I'm sorry you felt you had to do it, and sorry that I'm never going to be able to reread any of them. Although at least I can tell myself that nothing really awful happened to cause it.

I feel that way about a lot of my writing. I'm just not as comfortable posting as I used to be when I was a kid, thanks to greater anxiety, though in my case I hope I can get back to it eventually. The main point of writing fanfiction, to me, is getting out a good story, with reviews as an optional bonus, so I don't think you're doing it wrong.

As long as you are happy with what you are doing, OP. That is what counts.

If you like writing stories, then you should! Whether or not you decide to share them later is a completely different matter, don't be afraid to write just for you or just because you want to.

Did I make this in my sleep?

Go ahead and write for yourself. You don't need to show it to other people for it to mean something.

You should only participate in fandom to the extent that you are comfortable and gives you pleasure. If what you are doing makes you happy, then you are doing it right.

...now I'm wondering if you're an author who recently did this in my fandom (the secret submitting dates kind of match up...)

I mean, good for you, if it was making you physically ill, than, yeah, your health is always more important, although, you might want to look into why you felt sick at people reading your writing. some anxiety sounds normal, but the way this escalated is a little concerning

not that you have to post anything ever again, but I mean just in case it's part of something bigger?

i stopped posting my own writing a while back. havent stopped writing, just posting it. as long as you're enjoying yourself, it doesn't matter what you do with it when you're done. do what you do!

I get the unwillingness to post new fanfics since I suffer from mild anxiety myself (I always figured writing for pleasure should be...pleasurable), but man alive I hate it when people delete their old fic.

Your English is fine. You've got one or two sentence fragments, but it's still better than the average native speaker these days.

Some people would take it a step farther - since the rest of us aren't *really* publishing our stuff or earning money, what's the point?

Most of us would answer, because we enjoy doing what we do the way we do it. And so do you.

(The only bit I winced at was you taking down the previously published stuff - I haaate when I go back to re-read a story and it's gone - but they're your fics and it's your call. Just keep in mind that there are paranoid readers like me who now save copies of the really good ones to their computers, so someone out there *still* might be reading your stuff.)
