I... I just don't get the whole "I hate X because of its/their fans" thing. Especially when it concerns a person or a work of fiction. I could never figure out how people manage to hate something because of somebody else's activities and attitude towards it.

It's something similar to 'You're judged by the company you keep'. For example, I can't stand Dr. Who. It's not because of the series itself - I'd honestly probably like it if I gave it a chance, but because I've had so many fans of it try to shove the series down my throat? I connect those fans' actions to the series, and the dislike also carries over.

Most people don't find Jehovah's Witnesses to be problematic because they disagree with the finer details of their religion, but rather because strangers knock on their door unprovoked and interrupt their activities at home.
