I'm sure you're right. Good writing is good writing.

I just personally have no interest in reading about an OC that takes up a large chuck of the story. The reason I'm reading fanfiction in the first place is because I love the characters that are already a part of the canon and want to see them expanded on.

Yah, these are my feelings. I've read my share of fanfic where the OCs exist only to compliment and develop the canon characters (especially when they're new villains), and those are cool, but they're not as common as stories where the OCs take over. Such stories may be well-written, but I'm still not into that.

That's how I feel too. It's not that I think they're bad fic, it's just that I don't really want to read about an OC. I read fanfiction to get more story about the characters I enjoy.

My thoughts exactly. In the stories where I've actually liked OCs, it was because they existed mostly to fill a necessary role for the plot.

For me it's how it's done, and what it adds or doesn't take from the canon. If it really enhances the universe and/or canon characters, that's what I like. If it disrupts it, on the other hand, I have a problem with that.
