I just need to start somewhere since I don't read as many books as I did back in middle and elementary school. I've read a few classics like Pride & Prejudice, Great Gatsby, and some others that I enjoyed, so I just wanted to know what would be another classic I could read. I just don't want to read something at random from a shelf of fiction books.

Hm, I can't remember the last time I read something that would be considered a "classic", unless it was scifi. The Left Hand of Darkness was something I'd been meaning to read for years, and I really loved it.
I was inspired by this post to go read my Scott Pilgrim in a coffee shop and I'd forgotten how fantastic that series was. I highly recommend it.

As far as classics go, I really enjoyed Oliver Twist, much more than I expected to. Depending on how much you liked P&P, I also liked Emma - I feel like the plot is overall stronger in P&P, but the characters seem to have more depth in Emma. I'm also fond of The Secret Garden. If you somehow managed not to read To Kill a Mockingbird and Catcher in the Rye in school, I recommend them. And The Little Prince, if that wasn't part of your childhood.

But my top book rec that hasn't quite made it to classic yet is The Things They Carried. Amazing.
