I didn't know this. My respect for her just went up a bit. Not much, because the whole Dumbledore thing sounds like an afterthought, but still, her selfless desire to repay a government assistance program that helped her and a lot of others is definitely admirable.

Yeah, she's generally very forthright about the necessity of social programs and that sort of thing.

She seems like a generally decent person, insofar as we are capable of knowing anything about her personaly, but as you say the dumbledore thing is a bit of an afterthought.

your respect for her depends more on how many fictional gay characters she has than her donating to charities that help real life people survive?

Lol yeah that was some poor phrasing

(Anonymous) 2013-01-26 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, MTE. Kind of side-eyeing the person you're replying to tbh. >_>

I don't think they intended it to come across that way (...or maybe they did, idk) but, yeah, that's kind of messed up

She was a billionaire. She has so much money I don't think she'd be able to spend in naturally. It's nice of her to donate it and all, but I doubt she even feels a chunk of it missing from her pocket.

Wow, what a bullshit.

+1 about respecting her.

(Though the Dumbledore thing doesn't bother me too much.)

Who cares about starving families in need you guys, only fictional gay men matter!

This, I didn't know this. My estimation of her as a person has gone up. Think of how many people she would have helped. Who cares if she doesn't notice the monentary loss or not, she didn't have to do that. People have been helped. It's a good thing.
