Girls are told from a very young age that every man in the world is potentially out there to rape them, that they shouldn't go out alone at night etc. They're systematically taught that men are scary. So until they start using their brain and get over the bullshit their mothers taught them, they're often more attracted to unthreatening, boyish types. It's stupid, but it's just a consequence of how we're raised.

You had a good thing going until that line there. Can we please not bash on mothers?

Dude. What you said in your first sentence is true. That is not something girls should unlearn once they are women.

You need to stop drinking the kool-aid. Not every man in the world wants to rape you.

Not "wants to." "Is potentially out there to." Which is true. That does not mean all of them would want to, or even most of them would want to. But people are not safe creatures.

Didn't learn it as a kid. Have never learned it as an adult. Frankly I'm not sure how everyone else deals with the stress of being on "high alert" all the time. I will admit it applies to some places in the world.
