Except that flamboyant doesn't necessarily mean someone's gay. That's stereotyping. Not all gay men are flamboyant, and straight men can be flamboyant as well.

No, but it's one of those cultural codewords that people will often use or read as a hint at someone's sexuality. I think the point is that JKR used a very loaded word about him knowing it would be one of those little "aha" moments for the switched on reader.
