If not: the reason I asked anon that question specifically because anon said it was possible, even common, to have fannish discussions on Tumblr, and I want to know how it happens.
I'm not sure I understand *your* questions. Like, do you think someone with opinions, who wants to have discussions, is too wordy/thinks too much/should just stop thinking and lookit all the pretty pictures? Because people experience fandom in different ways. Tumblr is all about sharing images and short pieces of writing. Longer pieces of writing, with threaded discussions, don't really work there, in my experience, and that's the kind of discussion I really want, and *that* is why I don't often use Tumblr. I'm not saying Tumblr is good or bad, but I wish people would quit complaining/acting elitst because some people don't like Tumblr.

And I don't know how many times I've said it, but I do like tumblr. It's a lot of fun.
But I think that is where the breakdown comes in. Maybe people just have different ideas of what the length of a "discussion" should be. Maybe when they're talking about "meta" (I do feel old now, because I swear that word meant something else five years ago), they do just mean short little bits that are easily shared, not much commented on, and quickly forgotten for the next Cool Idea that came along.
