I finally got around to seeing this movie recently and it seemed weird that so many of the stupid people in the future were racial/ethnic minorities -- realistically I guess in the future there would be a lot more people who aren't white, but since the movie was all about how stupid the future is, it just resulted in some unfortunate implications, whether they were purposeful or not

They were? Besides the president I remember most of the primary characters being white. Except Maya Rudolph's character, but she wasn't stupid.

Really? The only nonwhite person that I remember from the future was the president. Maybe some Latin@s, but there were a lot of white people.

It was mostly background characters or extras that I noticed, like a few people on the president's cabinet and just people on the street, etc. Like I said though, maybe the whole point was just that the future is a more diverse place in addition to (according to the movie, anyway) being more stupid

Yeah, I noticed this too and felt kind of uncomfortable by that unfortunate implication.

I briefly mentioned the movie to a lab assistant of mine and she said she looooved it. She then promptly went on a rant about how "this is the reason why poor people shouldn't breed! Especially Hispanics and Blacks! Their culture doesn't value intellectual gain! If anything, they aspire to be athletes or entertainers which isn't as beneficial for our society. I wish they gave them a one child per household limit like China...blah" She was half white, half chinese. I guess she was under the impression that I was a non-hispanic white woman who was raised in an upper middle class household and attended private school, or something. IDK. That was the last time I talked to her.

Lol come on.
Of course the future would have more mixed(!) people because it was shown that the "dumb" people have sex with EVERYONE.

Movie quote: "Hurr hurr, I like having sex with chicks"

This movie really shouldn't be analyzed in regards to Social Justice. Wasn't that OPs point? :P
