You would probably think I'm a SJW. My sister loves the movie and made me watch it. Not everybody who watches it is overcome with the knowledge that it is prophesy. Some of us just realize it's inane.

I remember in a history class we saw a chart discussing the average number of children for people with varying levels of education and employment, from academics and officials right on down to the criminal classes. Steady increase in number of children. Of course, the chart was in German and dated from the mid-30s. /auto-Godwin

The premise of the movie is that Luke Wilson's character, and another character who is a prostitute get cryogenically frozen and wake up in the distant future, where the everyone is ridiculously stupid. Because only stupid people breed

I finally got around to seeing this movie recently and it seemed weird that so many of the stupid people in the future were racial/ethnic minorities -- realistically I guess in the future there would be a lot more people who aren't white, but since the movie was all about how stupid the future is, it just resulted in some unfortunate implications, whether they were purposeful or not

I think it'd make more people's heads explode on the premise that intelligence is purely genetic, as opposed to a result of education and upbringing.

Just tell them it's "why we need to spend more money on scholastic and social education, as well as funding for the arts" and even the twitchiest SJW would be happy.

I don't get this secret. I might be what you call a SJW, I watched the movie and it was okay - not bad, but I wouldn't watch it again. The only thing that actually bothered me was that the "average" woman, the prostitute, seemed so much dumber than the guy and... did she really have to be a prostitute?

(But maybe I'm just a bad, bad SJW because sometimes it feels like the movie has a point.)

The main thing that bugged me about this movie was that it was clearly a dude's vision of the future. The only thing I remember that existed to potentially appeal to women was the bodybuilder newsreader, and...yeah, not so appealing.

I don't think their heads would explode. They would treat it as kind of a stupid movie that was still funny at times - rightly so, because that's what it is. I'm not sure why you think their heads would explode - because of the sheer truth of it or something? Doesn't make sense to me.
