+1 If I go to a con wearing something that shows off the fact that I'm female-bodied and within society's acceptable weight range, I'll get people asking for pictures no matter how crappy my costume is. If I wear something loose that bulks me out or something that hides my figure completely, or I crossplay well enough to pass, no bite, unless I happen to have hit on someone else's favorite obscure character. (this doesn't apply if I go to cons that are female-majority, usually, but anywhere else...)

It really has very little to do with the costume itself.
