Re: Pentagon lifting ban on American female troops in combat MOS

Yeah but it wasn't a big deal last summer either. It's only been gaining its marginal attention recently. Unless I missed something then too?

...That's probably what happened.

Eh, if you missed it, I did, too. I'm not the greatest at keeping up with current events, but I do scan the AOL news feed every other day or so, and this only popped up yesterday. So.

CNN, Yahoo, Fox, and NYT all had it on their websites at the time and it was a highlight on the Google news page.

I guess our definition of "big deal" is a bit of a wash? I was looking more for discussion or even just acknowledgement by people/places not just official stories by major media outlets. Who I also felt didn't really give it all that much attention? But thanks for getting back to me. :D

Yeah, sorry for the delay. I know that at least on Yahoo there was a lot of discussion about it but it seems like most stories don't generate much discussion unless they're on Huff or someone blogs about it and a celebrity tweets the link :/

My two cents is that it wasn't bigger news at the time because 1) there isn't really a defined 'front line' in our current operations and 2) plenty of women in specific positions (bomb squad, K9 unit, parachuting, etc) that have been in the thick of things for ages and they themselves were probably a bit underwhelmed by the news, seeing how their lives already ran like they were in these "newly opened" positions because they were, you know?
