Sorry, no. I just wish the irrational, misdirected hate would stop being a Thing on the internet, instead of periodically shifting targets like it seems to do.

When I was in college, furries were some of the most thoughtful, trustworthy people on campus. My stereotype, to the extent that I had one, was that they were non-violent, often vegan, nearly all LGBTQ, and hardcore about consent and acceptance. They impressed me. Their detractors have too, but very much in the opposite direction.

This, pretty much. Almost all the stories I've heard that weren't 'I heard from my best friend's husband's second cousin...' have generally had furries being awesome, accepting folks [as have my experiences with them.] Hell, I know someone who actually decided to ~infiltrate~ their community to make a comedy article about them...and ended up saying that 'Hey, most of these people are actually pretty cool. It's the one vocal minority that's creepy and sucks'.

Apparently they prostitute out their dogs at cons nowadays.

And have black magic rituals by the dark of the moon using infant blood

I like how you listed vegan as a positive trait, how telling.

lol, what? Is it a negative trait now?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-30 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
IT IS NEUTRAL!

Fair enough. I can see why being a vegan would add to someone's impression that you're generally a kind/compassionate person, though.
