Re: Annoying names

Meh, the only thing I see problematic about really "creative" names from the kid's perspective is the lack of pre-printed name crap. idk if this was a thing for anybody else, but when I was a kid, I got a little upset whenever I looked at racks of these things and the spelling of my name wasn't listed (despite my spelling being the original spelling, but obviously when some idiot pop star with a ridiculous spelling gets famous, everybody spells their name that way! uhg). When I was still on the fence about kids, I knew I wanted to give them names that were "normal" and had a good chance of being found on those racks.

Other than that, some names are really easy to twist into cruel nicknames, and you have a statistically harder time getting hired with a hard-to-pronounce name than you do with a common or easy-to-pronounce one.

I have an unusual name, and it never bothered me that I couldn't find my name anywhere. I always thought my name was cool, and I liked that I didn't know anyone else with my name. Honestly, I don't think kids care as much as adults who have a weird aversion of 'unusual' names like to pretend they do.
