I think Andy Serkis deserves way more attention than Armitage. This guy just baffles me in all his "motion capture roles".

And what about the dwarf actors (who aren't playing Kili or Fili)?
Sorry, but all this Armitage worship lately annoys me. It's Orlando Bloom all over again.

The Legolas/Fili slash already exists, as does Legolas/Kili, though I have seen a lack of whoring to him in particular, it's usually to Thranduil, with Thorin being a big option there (I personally can't stand the idea of Thranduil/Thorin).

This. True, many fangirls are just squealing about how hot RA is but the truth is that he actually CAN act. Unlike Orlando Bloom who's just looks and nothing else (and I don't even personally find him hot). I fell in love with RA's Thorin. Not just because he's good looking but because of the way the character carries himself. When I looked at Thorin, the way he moves, speaks, generally expresses himself, I could just nod and say "Yeah, I can totally see this guy is actually a King." I'm sorry Viggo Mortensen, I love you and your Aragorn was awesome but I never got that "royal" feeling I had while watching Thorin even though the characters are very similar. RA managed to make Thorin so... silently convincing and conflicted!

Well, movie!Aragorn had this whole Isildur-induced self-doubt thing going on. Will I fail? Should I send Arwen away? Do I want to be king? I don't knooooow... While Thorin is all, I'm King, bitches, now gimme my mountain back.

I don't actually find RA that hot, to be honest. To me, he's kind of generically good looking, but a bit boring. And a lot of it is good lighting that makes his eyes look bluer than they are. But somehow, I always end up loving his characters to bits. I think he has a strange talent of making you feel for the guys he plays. He can definitely act.

Uh, dunno where you've been but Andy Serkis HAS more attention than Armitage-- or Orlando Bloom or any of the "pretty" male actors in the LOTR franchise. He's won more awards, been in more blockbuster movies and is generally recognized as both a genius for his motion capture work as well as his onscreen acting.

If anyone's underrating him, it's you.

Well said! I think this explains why I never found Legolas/Orlando hot while all the others were like worshiping him or why I almost always find the older actors more attractive. It must be the acting. Orlando lacks the CHARISMA which comes with talent. Meanwhile I totally swooned after Thorin. Not just because of his looks but because of the way he carries himself! Armitage could express so many things with his subtle acting. Like in the scene where Bilbo tells them that he'll help them because they have no home, Thorin's freaking face and little gestures told me so many things! That's freaking talent!
