[Hotel Transylvania]

I think he did a great job as Dracula. Normally he annoys me, but I liked his performance here.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-30 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, I had no idea it was Adam Sandler until this secret.

Best performance the guy's done in years.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I can't stand Sandler and avoid his movies, but I've kind of wanted to see this one. Should I?

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
The story is really predictable and it has an issue or two, but it's really gorgeous to look at it and the animations (especially when the characters are just hanging out in the background) are really fun. So many great unexpected little moments/expressions. Also, first role by Adam Sandler that I've been able to stomach in years.

Sounds OK, I can handle predictable as long as it's entertaining otherwise.

The animation is great.

It's harmless enough. Far worse ways to spend an hour and a half for sure.

If you like family-plays-family roles, his daughter and wife get to play small parts as well.

I still mean to see this. Was there any kind of twist?

SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, not really. The story is pretty straight forward. Dracula's wife was murdered by an angry mob. He takes their daughter and flees, promising her dead wife that he will always protect her. He creates the Hotel Transylvania, a place where monsters can be without humans. His daughter, however, is finally an adult in their years and wants to see the world/humans. Dracula tricks her into staying, and everything seems to be fine until a human finds his hotel. The human, after realizing the hotel is full of monsters, freaks out and ends up knocking into his daughter. They "zing" which is basically this movie's version of soulmates.

The rest of the movie is Dracula trying to get the human out of the hotel and his eventual acceptance of him/the relationship between the daughter and the human.

Honestly I love the movie a lot. Yes it has some issues, but it has a lot of heart.

I'm not that fond of Sandler, but that plot sounds pretty adorable.
I might check this out, as well.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
It is really adorable. I really like that the 'soulmate' thing has a legitimate reason passed "omg, he's so hawt!"

SPOILERS!!

The daughter really wants to travel and see the world. The human who finds the motel is a backpacker and does nothing but travel to different places.

Attraction has reasons that reason knows not. People find all sorts of animated characters cute and even sexy, so don't be ashamed. If you're attracted to a cartoon character, you could do worse than Hotel Transylvania's Dracula.

I'd bang Adam Sandler any day.

Kids movies are so weird these days! I saw this one with a couple of friends and it was just bizarre having iPod references and LMFAO in it. Very cute movie though :)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I saw him as more cute than hot, but I get you, OP.
Don't feel ashamed.

PS: Bleh bleh bleeehhh! ;)

LOL. That and the Twilight dig, loved them.
