So many fans going on about how obviously Watson was turned into a woman because American television can't handle homosexual subtext like those super progressive UK shows!

er, this is how i felt though-- not that the "bromance" horseshit in sherlock is progressive or different from america, but in elementary they're obviously kinda pushing for a romance between sherlock and femwatson and it just doesn't completely sit right with me. i remember seeing an interview with lucy liu where she said something along the lines of "watson as a woman has a relationship with sherlock that you just can't get with two men" followed my some stupid look-at-the-tension clip from the show. it's just... kinda weird.

The showrunner and writers have said repeatedly that they are not going to do a romance between Watson and Sherlock on Elementary. And so far it seems like the writers are keeping to their word.

da

wait is Elementary the America one or the other one? /not a fan of either...or british shows why am I even in this thread

whichever one with the girl!watson, I would hope they don't put them together justbecause gender difference because it would be rurgh. let her be an awesome watson without sexing it up with sherlock!

Elementary is the American one with the female Watson.

The showrunner and writers have said repeatedly they have no intention of ever putting Watson and Holmes in a romantic relationship, so I really wouldn't worry about that. Lucy Liu's Watson really is a fabulous female character.

Obviously turned into a woman to make them a couple?

The creators have said time and time again that they 100% plan to keep it platonic. I can't say that they absolutely won't change their mind in a future season, but as of now, they have no plans of romance. So no, that's not their reasoning.
