Anyone want to talk about today's Lizzie update??

*this thread contains spoilers for LBD, you've been warned*

I'm kind of relieved honestly that the shit finally hit the fan. It's been a long time coming and the tension in Lydia's videos has gotten awful! I didn't think that this is what would happen, but the way they're executing it is excellent, imo. My heart is breaking for her; I came across a picture of the three Bennet sisters and Charlotte posing together from much earlier in the series and was all D: why can't they just be besties again???

Also squealing over all the tension between Lizzie and Darcy and the way he cares about her and was so intensely focused on her throughout the episode. I loved the look on their faces right after he asked her out, and then the phone interrupted it...Lizzie's reaction to the convo with Charlotte was very well-acted imo.

(I hope this kind of thread is allowed, and also that someone else replies to it...lol...)

LBD twitter tweeted it yesterday so it's legit. HE IS THREATENING TO RELEASE IT ON VALENTINES DAY THAT FUCKING DICK.

Lizzie and Darcy were so cute in this episode and I get the feeling that they've been getting closer offscreen and for that reason it doesn't feel like it's moving too fast.

THIS UPDATE WAS SO GOOD. POOR LYDIA. LIZZIE/DARCY 5EVER. FUCKIN WICKHAM.

Yes I saw the site, urgh! And I heard that it got tweeted etc. but I don't have Twitter so I didn't see it myself. (Sometimes I go over there and browse their accounts but I don't "follow" them, so.)

(I love how interactive this series is by making the characters "real life" characters so to speak. It adds so much to their personalities and relatability, adds canon content, makes it more interesting...it's fun!)

Augh, the whole thing with Lydia got progressively creepier, it was pretty well done. I didn't have any theories about how they'd adapt this
part, but I think what they're doing is appropriate enough for modern times.
And omg Darcy and Lizzie and all that sexual tension! (Though I think the arm touching in today's episode was a bit awkward). When Darcy reappeared in 78 I swear I jumped on my chair, I wasn't expecting him then.

YES, and 78 might still be my favorite episode to date. XD I flipped. But some parts of this episode...like his voice when he asked Lizzie if she was all right, the way he insisted on helping her, and how she trusted him...

I didn't really think it was awkward, or at least not more than it's supposed to be. *shrug*

Totally agree about Lydia. It started to get really painful to watch her videos. All the life was being sucked out of her; going back and watching an old episode after one of the newer ones is super striking.

I wonder what the significance is of replacing the Lydia thumbnail with the Gigi thumbnail. Is Lydia ending her vlog? Is Gigi starting an official one? (The Pemberly channel? Or does she have her own that I was dumb and missed?) She looks pretty mad in the thumbnail and I hope she really lays into George. It must be hard watching him fuck over someone else after everything she went through...

The only thing that bothers me is all the fans talking about how Lizzie is "the worse sister ever" and how what happened to Lydia is ~all~ Lizzie's fault.

Lydia is a grown ass woman, and she is just as much to blame for her and Lizzie's fight as Lizzie is. They are both at fault for the fight that drove them apart. The ONLY person actually at fault for Wickham's doucheness is Wickham.

(I mean, I get *Lizzie* blaming herself, it makes sense! But fans doing it bugs me.)

huh...honest curiosity, where are you seeing that? I haven't seen it. I poked around on Tumblr a little after it came out but my Tumblr patience ran out. I mainly just browsed the YT comments and not one person there blamed Lizzie.

But if that's happening, yeah, that would upset me too. It's NOT Lizzie's fault, OR Lydia's. The fight is both of their fault (though moreso Lydia's imo? but that's water under the bridge now) but Wickham being a douche is Wickham being a douche. Knowing how YT comments often are, I'm pleased that 99% of my fellow commenters blame Wickham and only Wickham, recognize that their relationship is abusive as hell, and wanted Lydia to get herself out ages ago, but didn't blame her.

It was on tumblr, there were several posts about how "Lizzie is the WORST SISTER EVER" and complaints about WHY WASN'T SHE WATCHING LYDIA'S VIDEOS??? (because the last video she watched had Lydia tearing her to pieces maybe?)

I like tumblr, so I don't run out of tumblr patience, but I wish I had before I saw those posts. :/

(I agree with you, Lizzie was thoughtless, yes, but she meant well; Lydia was needlessly and knowingly cruel, but that doesn't matter anymore.)

That's nice! I haven't really been watching the Lydia videos, because of personal reasons, but I have a friend who's been keeping me informed, and I can look at gifs, so I'm glad to know people in the youtube comments are being civil. :)

Ew, that is really gross, and also stupid. No, just no.

I can totally understand not watching Lydia for personal reasons - I won't ask, but I imagine if someone had experienced/knew someone who had experienced something like that it would be very difficult. Glad you are able to keep up on the story though. Crossing my fingers that she gets a happier ending than in the book. I think she deserves that chance.

Yeah... I almost wanted to make a post about it, but I decided not to. Maybe after the situation ends, you know? Because I'm afraid if I do it right now, no matter how neutrally I try to phrase it, it will come across as Lydia-bashing, which is not what I want to do at all!

Ah well.

And thank you! There were some posts today about how you HAVE to watch the Lydia videos or you're SO MISSING OUT HOW COULD YOU YOU HORRIBLE PERSON and it just made me feel all sorts of gross, so this comment was very kind of you to make. :)

Since I mostly ship non-canon it's weird having all these things to squee over. They're touching! He's comforting her! And it's all gonna end great for them!!

Also Gigi Darcy is adorable. Looking forward to more of her spin-off.

I ship Lizzie/Darcy in this series. Most of my other ships these days are not canon (...partly because most of them are slash of one form or another). So here I know they're gonna be canon and that's exciting.

I'd say the Wickham fanbase overlaps pretty well with the fanbase that makes the fight 100% Lizzie's fault. (Weirdly enough.) (Though there's plenty of people who absolve Lydia and hate Wickham.)

Ugh that's horrible. And kind of disturbing, considering how clearly manipulative and abusive he was being towards her. Watching him in those videos just made me want to take a shower.
