I don't think he'll ever compete as well as he use to, and that makes me sad. I know he tried for this season, but he hurt his leg or hip or something so he had to withdraw. IDK. He's getting older and isn't as nimble as he use to be, so injuries are more common and more serious. And imo, he's not as passionate about figure skating as he once was, with his TV show and reality show digs and what have you. He'll probably still do tours, and I can see him teaching/mentoring when he's older.

I agree with the whole figure skating world has changed thing. I was obsessed with it between 2002-2006, but by the time the 2010 Olympics ended I just didn't care. I couldn't even tell you who competes for the US men's anymore. Jeremy Abbott probably since he was young in the 2010 Olympics, and maaaaybe Ryan Bradley still?

IDK. Nothing will compare to Johnny's Swan short program at the Olympics. Holy fuck, I sobbed after watching 'cause it was so damn good. Now it's all technical aspects and about doing certain moves to earn the most points and less about the artistic elements.

Tbh, I care more about ice dance than the other disciples, so I'm not super knowledgeable about men's skating. But yeah, Jeremy Abbot is still around and when he's not a total headcase, he's really good. Uh... Ross Miner is promising, I think? I don't THINK that Ryan Bradley is still around, but I'm not sure. Idk. Men's figure skating in the US is pretty bleak right now. Japan is dominating (and Patrick Chan too), as far as I know.

There aren't any singles or pairs figure skaters that I care about rn, but omg. ICE DANCE. I LOVE ICE DANCE SO MUCH.
