FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

I NEED TO LEARN TO STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ANY WEBSITE THAT REVIEWS BOOKS. MY TO-READ LIST IS ALREADY LONG ENOUGH AS IT IS, FOR FUCKS SAKE.

BOOKS, WHY MUST YOU BE SO TEMPTING?

Aw, I know. Unfortunately, right now I'm stuck with an unbelievably shitty eleven-volumes-long historical novel (and I can't drop it; I don't drop books), so I don't allow myself to pick up new ones. And I still took a new book from an acquaintance of mine yesterday. It is a historical novel, too, although it's not that shitty, shorter and somewhat more amusing x_x

Try to finish everything you read first then go for new things! It seems to help in my case.

You should start dropping books! There's already so many books out there. Enough that no one could read all the good books in a single lifetime. So why waste your time on something that's no good?

Because "good" is not what I'm looking for when I read books. Well, I love it when literature is good, but my main concern is cultural information. I read in order to understand how culture works, and for this purpose shitty books are as good as the good ones (sometimes much better).

Plus, of course, I get the information and material for thought. That's why I read "heavy stuff" such as "The Critique of Pure Reason" or this shitty-and-long historical thingie.

This being said, I'm head over heels in love with books. I don't even know why. I spent twenty-four hours reading my most recent favourite novel and then wrote a letter to the author (a normal letter not a fangirling one; I actually wanted to ask them something and to express my gratitude for their work).

That's fair enough - I suppose, rather than "if you're not enjoying it", I should have said "if you're not getting anything from it." But I do think that if you're not getting anything from a book one way or another, there's no intrinsic worth to continuing on grimly towards the end of the thing.

And yes, books are awesome. You just have to love books. Gosh, reading is great.

My checkout list is 16 books at book depository and I can't afford them, so I get you OP :( I WANT ALL THE BOOKS

I may go raid a second hand store.

It'd be 17 if I could find the 4th books in soft cover and matching the other 3 books in the series
