Isn't this the case with every single dub? Especially when it comes to anime? I've never seen a dub that I like. :(

No. There have been a few dubs I've really enjoyed, like Samurai Champloo and Beck. There are always a few exceptions, but I agree that many dubs tend to fall short.

i generally feel this way too but, on occasion, i've been pleasantly surprised. UN-GO for example managed to get a bunch of A++ voice acting in its dub and considering that the original was one of my absolute favourites ever, i was pretty impressed and have become a bit less cynical i think.

The Baccano dub is great

Seconding this. I love the Baccano dub so much I haven't seen the original Japanese. The fact the show takes place in America helps...and the accents.

Back in the 90's and early 00's yes (with some exceptions), mid 00's, things started getting better and there were a lot of good dubs, but Geneon and ADV fell and Bang Zoom stopped doing anime for the most part, so Funimation's been getting a lot of anime and because they never use anyone new or from the L.A. voice actor pool, a lot of their dubs have become mediocre because VAs are being miscast all over the place (like Ouran Host Club, I will never understand why Vic McNugget is Tamaki) and some people can only do the same voice over and over again.

And try the Cowboy Bebop dub, even Shinichiro Watanabe (the director) liked it better than the Japanese one.

Black Lagoon's English dub is fantastic.

In my experience, comedies tend to have better dubs than most (Cromartie High School's dub is great) but it might be because you don't have to take them seriously in the first place.
