*glancing up-thread* The only point I can see to secrets that say "if you do X, I judge you" is to measure how their feelings compare with the rest of the group, or see if they can round up more support for what they think. From the side of someone who is being judged, it reads as a threat display. And I think that's often how it's meant: as we disapprove and we outnumber you. In that context, I can understand why OP responded with "but I have just as much of a right to be here doing my thing as you do." Without knowing the specifics of what they're talking about, I'd cautiously support the sentiment. Fandom tolerates too much malicious whispering about people who ship what you don't or like the wrong things.
